iP Utility Safety Conference & Expo Statement on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Outbreak -- March 19, 2020

As you are aware, most of the utility industry is experiencing a travel ban due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For this reason, the iP Utility Safety Conference & Expo is going to take place virtually. This way, all who attend will have the ability to learn from our amazing presenters, visit with our exhibiting partners, network with peers and earn CUSP points.

Rest assured that we will send further details as the event gets closer.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.

iP Utility Safety Conference & Expo Statement on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Outbreak -- March 11, 2020

Utility Business Media and iP Utility Safety Conference & Expo staff are closely monitoring the coronavirus situation and will comply with local, state and federal agencies to plan for a safe event.

At this time, health departments in the state of Arizona have not requested the cancellation of any gatherings because the current risk of person-to-person spread in their jurisdiction remains low.

We’re very grateful for the ongoing support of our exhibitors and attendees who continue to register and plan for the show. We have not experienced any adverse impacts so far.

If you are attending the iP Utility Safety Conference & Expo:

We encourage you to become familiar with the World Health Organization’s suggested safety precautions, which include:

  • Thoroughly washing your hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds or using alcohol-based hand sanitizer (The iP Safety Conference will be providing alcohol-based hand-sanitizer stations throughout the event.)
  • When coughing and sneezing, covering your mouth and nose with a flexed elbow or tissue, and then discarding the tissue immediately into a closed bin.
  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Providing yourself with personal space and avoiding physical contact (e.g., shaking hands) with other attendees.
  • Staying home if you have a fever

There is a lot about COVID-19 that is still unknown, but what we do know is that personal hygiene is critical. We hope that people follow the science, implement the recommendations of public health agencies and continue to participate in the activities that make our world a connected one.

At the World Health Organization press conference, Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated, “Our greatest enemy right now is not the virus itself. It’s fear, rumors and stigma. And our greatest assets are facts, reason and solidarity.”
