Achieve New Heights in Leadership -
Lessons from an Air Force Fighter Pilot
Tuesday, November 19th 7:30-9:00am
Maintaining a high level of performance means paying attention to the little things. By sharing his lessons learned as a United States Air Force fighter pilot, air show performer and international airline pilot, Jeff "Odie" Espenship gives an interactive, entertaining, yet powerful message on focusing on the basics of leadership and human behavior. He also discusses the importance of setting high expectations, speaking up, listening to what is NOT being said, overcoming complacency (the silent killer), never assuming and communicating to understanding—all of which are powerful strategies that are necessary to achieve new heights in life and leadership.
Due to his demonstrated leadership and officer ship skills in cadet corps officer training, Jeff was awarded not only a full academic scholarship, but also a USAF pilot training slot. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Jeff spent a year cheating certain death and destruction earning his USAFpilot wings. Having done this better than his classmates, he won the coveted “Commanders Trophy” as the overall top graduate of his pilot training class. Jeff also won the pilot training T-38 Talon’s “Hard Charger Award” for overall dedication to excellence and training.
