Transformer Connection Planning

This session will focus on a systematic 12-step process for making safe and appropriate overhead transformer bank connections that reduce risk to workers, meet utility expectations and safeguard the public. The facilitator will provide handouts and use a PowerPoint presentation to explain step-by-step procedures of thinking through and building a plan for connections before physically making them. Learning objectives include reviewing basic transformer elements; choosing primary system connections; drawing simple vector diagrams; evaluating internal winding connections; selecting no-load tap-changer settings; building secondary service connections; and examining current load and fusing options.
